Two held with 158 rolls of banned nylon thread

JAMMU, Aug 1: Two individuals were arrested from different areas of the Jammu district today with 158 rolls of the banned nylon thread, commonly known as “Gattu” or “Chinese string”.
A police official said acting on specific information, 60 rolls of the Chinese string were recovered from the possession of one Pankaj Gupta (38) of House number F/94, Lane number 07, Talab Tillo, Jammu.
On his further questioning, the police official said, another raid was conducted at Vikas Lane Talab Tillo by a team led by Tehsildar Jammu Khas, Paramdeep Singh, and assisted by SHO Nowabad, Deepak Pathania which recovered 94 more rolls of the banned thread.
Accordingly, he said, the accused was booked in case FIR number 109/2025 under section 223 of the BNS registered at Police Station Nowabad Jammu.
In a similar crackdown, the police official said one Rajat Singh (30) alias Raju of Dabbey, tehsil Marh, district Jammu, was arrested with four rolls of the banned Chinese synthetic thread by a team of Border Police Post Garkhal.
The accused was accordingly booked in case FIR number 131/2025 under section 223 of the BNS registered at Police Station Akhnoor and further investigation taken up, he said.
