KATHUA, Aug 1: Reminding Prime Minister Modi of his promise, former Minister Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today asked the PM to fulfill his promise of restoring Statehood to the Jammu and Kashmir.
While addressing a large public gathering at Mandli in Billawar Constituency today he strongly criticised BJP for the total neglect of Billawar constituency. He said that the people of the area have strong resentment against BJP. The roads are in bad shape, water supply has been badly hit in many rural areas, and moreover, there is shortage of teachers in the schools.
Manohar Lal asked why Billawar is being discriminated. Before the elections, the BJP had made big promises to the people of Billawar. They had promised to make it a district. But now the BJP leaders are silent on the issue. He said that the condition of roads in the entire Billawar assembly constituency has gone from bad to worse. Many villages are facing shortage of water. He requested the administration to pay attention to these issues.
Former Minister said he was the MLA of Billawar for 12 years and worked very hard but after 2014, the development work that he had started in Billawar was stopped as part of a conspiracy. Today, Billawar is deprived of even basic facilities.
He highlighted the Congress party’s fight for the rights and development of Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP’s failure to address the region’s infrastructure needs, including roads and water supply, had a detrimental impact on the lives of the people. Sharma reiterated that the Congress party is at the forefront of the fight for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Prominent among those present on the occasion include Th Bhudhi Singh, Romesh Verma, Sham Lal Spolia, Romal Singh Karran Singh and others.
