JAMMU, July 30: The Old Janipur Civil Society Action Committee held a review meeting today at the Community Hall, Shant Nagar Mohalla, to discuss several long-pending civic issues affecting the locality. Residents from Shant Nagar, Pandoka Colony, Indra Vihar, Ram Vihar, Indra Colony, Hari Nagar, Kabir Nagar, and nearby areas participated actively.
The committee highlighted urgent needs such as the repair and renovation of the community hall, blacktopping of main lanes, drain repairs, non-functional streetlights, tree pruning, sanitization and fogging. Serious concerns were also raised regarding JDA Park, including the need for bathroom and gate repairs, CCTV surveillance, deployment of a chowkidar and gardener, construction of a park hut and Nag Mandir, installation of the national flag, and curbing of unsafe activities such as open alcohol consumption and reckless cycling.
The committee also demanded the provision of an ambulance at the Ram Vihar dispensary and urged the administration to intervene urgently. Kulwant Singh Sambyal, Chairman of the Action Committee, presided over the meeting.
