CHANDIGARH, July 26: Max Super Speciality Hospital Mohali today organised a weight loss champions meet to celebrate the transformational journeys of bariatric surgery patients who successfully reclaimed healthier lives.
Around 50 patients who underwent bariatric surgery at the hospital participated in the event and shared their stories of overcoming obesity, health complications, and social anxiety.
Many spoke about how the surgery helped them regain confidence and take control of their health.
Mohar Singh, one of the patients, shared how he battled severe health issues such as breathing problems and fatty liver before deciding to go for surgery.
Jagdeep Kaur recalled how she felt decades older due to obesity and realised it was time to act.
Others like Jayant Trehan and Varun Bansal spoke about how surgery transformed their eating habits and improved their mental well-being.
Aisiree Debbarma highlighted how isolation and anxiety due to weight gain had affected her life, but the surgery helped her return to a more joyful and confident self.
Dr Anupam Goel, Senior Consultant – General, Gastrointestinal & Robotic Surgery at Max Hospital, said, “Obesity is not just about self-control. Many people struggle for years with diets and exercise without results. For such patients, bariatric surgery can be life-changing.”
The event also included fun games, activities, a healthy recipe workshop, and a live cooking session with a trained chef. Goodie bags and surprise giveaways added excitement to the gathering.
