In a landmark initiative aimed at healing the long-festering wounds of terrorism, the LG administration has taken a decisive step towards ensuring timely relief and justice to the families affected by terror in Jammu and Kashmir. The launch of a dedicated web portal-developed by the Home Department in coordination with the National Informatics Centre-marks a turning point in how the Government seeks to institutionalise support and address decades-old grievances that had remained unresolved. The significance of this initiative lies not just in the digital infrastructure but in the seriousness of intent with which it is being implemented. The portal captures comprehensive district-wise data, monitors encroachments on the property of victims, and filters out false or duplicate claims. For the first time, a Government platform is addressing the pain of the terror-affected in a systematic and accountable manner.
Most notably, LG Sinha has personally taken charge of the initiative, supervising and monitoring its execution. True to his announcement, assistance cells at both Jammu and Srinagar Civil Secretariats have been constituted without delay. Moreover, toll-free helplines-staffed with trained personnel-are operational, ensuring that grievances are not only heard but are formally logged and acted upon. These control rooms act as critical citizen interfaces, bridging the gap between Government promises and ground realities. Further institutional backing has come in the form of Special Monitoring Cells under the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police. These bodies have been tasked with regularly reviewing progress, identifying procedural delays, and pushing interdepartmental coordination to eliminate bottlenecks. The message is clear: the UT stands resolutely with the victims and will stop at nothing to deliver justice.
Equally important is the Government’s parallel commitment to pursue the perpetrators of terror. The message being sent is unambiguous-those who inflicted suffering will not escape the reach of law. Justice is no longer a symbolic promise but a resolute agenda. The integration of technology, accountability, and high-level supervision offers hope to families who have waited for decades. It affirms the Government’s will to uphold the rule of law, rebuild trust, and stand shoulder to shoulder with its most affected citizens.
