JAMMU, July 23: Senior IAS officer Rohit Kansal, who has formerly served in Jammu and Kashmir in different capacities, and is currently on Central deputation, is among three IAS officers who have been granted proforma promotion to the apex scale (level 17 in the pay matrix) by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

As per an order issued by the MHA, Kansal will receive the promotion with effect from the date his immediate junior in the cadre assumes charge.
Along with Kansal, two other AGMUT Cadre officers of the same batch-Sajjan Singh Yadav and Varsha Joshi-have also been granted proforma promotion to the apex scale under similar conditions. The two officers are also serving on Central deputation.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Keshav Chandra, also a 1995 batch IAS officer of the AGMUT Cadre and presently posted in the cadre, has been promoted to the apex scale with effect from July 1, 2025 or from the date of assumption of charge, whichever is later.
