ANANTNAG, July 23: For the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims a dedicated team of AYUSH Department is serving by organising Yoga sessions at Martand Temple, Mattan. Practicing Yoga Asanas will help pilgrims enroute to Shri Amarnath Ji Shrine.
Participants followed experts instruction in yoga postures and breathing exercises, reflecting the department’s sustained commitment to holistic development of people through yoga.
The AYUSH team comprises of Dr Mahbooba Parveen and Dr Narinder Singh Bali, medical officers, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, pharmacist, Shoukat Yousuf and Taskeena Jan, yoga instructors.
While talking to media persons, Taskeena Jan, called yoga a powerful daily practice for holistic health.
She said, “Even 30 minutes of yoga a day can significantly improve a person’s life.”
Medical officer Dr Mahbooba Parveen said that yoga could play a major role in tackling drug addiction among youth by bringing discipline and focus into their lives.
“Practicing various Yoga Asanas will help the pilgrims enroute to the holy cave”, she asserted.
“Apart from Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims, locals are also participating in the Yoga sessions, which are being performed twice a day”, she said, adding that free medicines are also being distributed among the participants.
Medical officer Dr Narinder Singh Bali called Yoga, a legacy that not only improves health but fosters harmony between individuals and nature, perfectly reflecting the year’s theme of interconnected well-being.
He highlighted the significance of Yoga, describing it as “an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition.”
The pilgrims and the locals expressed their gratitude to the AYUSH team for organising Yoga sessions on daily basis.
“We hope that the department will continue to organise such Yoga sessions after the completion of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra”, they added.
The sessions were held under the guidance of Dr Nuzhat Bashir Shah, director AYUSH and supervision of Dr Sujad Hussain, assistant director (Yatra Officer, Kashmir Division) and Dr Javed Ahmed Wani, district AYUSH officer Anantnag (Nodal Officer, Yatra Anantnag).
