UDHAMPUR, July 21: In a continued drive against drug trafficking, Udhampur Police registered three separate NDPS cases, recovered contraband substances and arrested six accused.
During naka checking at Garnai Chowk NHW, a Tata Yodha (JK14J-9447) coming from Udhampur side was intercepted. 10.54 kg poppy straw was recovered from the cabin of the said vehicle.
Three accused persons travelling in the vehicle, identified as Javaid Ahmed of Pulwama, Bashir Ahmed of Qazikund and Abdul Wahid of Udhampur were arrested. In this regard, a case FIR number 114/2025 U/S 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered at PS Rehambal.
In another case, a motorcycle (JK14-7119) was stopped during checking at Tikri and 8.77 grams of heroin was recovered from the riders, namely Parshotam Kumar of Neeli Nallah and Koushal Sharma of Kambal Danga.
Both the accused were arrested on the spot. In this regard, FIR No. 113/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at PS Rehambal.
In third case at Kud area, 975 grams of marijuana was seized from a Honda City (CH03Z-4486) car, coming from Patnitop. Driver of the car, namely Rakesh Masih of Jammu was arrested on the spot.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 33/2025 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kud.
