JAMMU, July 21: The Mahila Congress, under the leadership of J&K Mahila Congress president Shameema Raina, organized a peaceful protest in Jammu, demanding restoration of Statehood in Jammu and Kashmir.
The demonstration highlighted the ongoing concerns of the region’s residents regarding governance, representation, and development since the reorganization of the state.
The protest saw active participation from women across Jammu, voicing their demand for reinstating Jammu and Kashmir’s full state status.
Speaking on the occasion Shameema emphasized the importance of Statehood for ensuring the rights and welfare of the people. “Restoring Statehood is crucial for empowering our citizens, safeguarding their democratic rights, and promoting economic growth. We urge the Central Government to take immediate steps in this direction,” Raina said.
The Mahila Congress called on political leaders and the Government to address these longstanding issues with sincerity and urgency. The protest also aimed to raise awareness about the unique challenges faced by women in the region, including limited access to education, healthcare and employment opportunities.
The event concluded with a resolve to continue peaceful demonstrations until the demands are met. The Mahila Congress remains committed to advocating for the rights of Jammu and Kashmir’s people and ensuring their voices are heard at all levels of Government.
