Two held with intoxicant substance

RAMBAN, July 21: Police here today arrested two persons and recovered 7 kg and 722 gram of poppy straw from their possession.
Cops during routine checking near Jamia Masjid, Chanderkote on National Highway 44 intercepted a Scooty bearing registration number PB07CB-3332 coming from Ramban side.
During checking, 1 kg and 818 gram poppy straw like substance was recovered from the possession of rider of the two-wheeler Harpreet Singh, son of Sudarshan Singh, resident of Mananhana, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab while 1 kg and 500 gram of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from the pillion rider Sukhvindar Kumar, son of Jeet Singh, resident of Dain, District Kapurthala, Punjab.
When the Scooty was checked, a concealed cavity was discovered under the seat from where an additional 4 kg and 422 gram poppy straw-like substance was recovered.
Both the accused were arrested and the Scooty was seized.
Investigation in the case was underway.
