RAJOURI, July 17: One person was killed while several others were injured when a Scorpio vehicle collided with a car in Bhambla area of Sunderbani today.
Reports said the tragic road accident took place near Shani Mandir, Bhambla, when a Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK20C-5227 collided head-on with a Wagon R car bearing number JK11C-0473. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in injuries to several passengers traveling in the WagonR.
According to preliminary reports, five to six persons sustained injuries in the mishap and were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani and PHC Chowki Chora for urgent medical assistance. Among the injured were family members and relatives traveling together in the ill-fated Wagon R.
Unfortunately, the driver of the WagonR , identified as Mehmood Ganai, son of Abdul Rafiq Ganai and a resident of Thanamandi, succumbed to his injuries. As per BMO Sunderbani, Dr. Meena Kumari, he was brought dead to the hospital.
The injured persons are -Rabia Ghanae, wife of the deceased Mehmood Ganai, aged around 40 years, and Asha Begum, mother of Mehmood Ganai, along with a minor girl from the same family, all residents of Thanamandi. They were removed to GMC Jammu.
Three other injured persons, namely Uttam Singh, son of Krishan Singh, aged 36 years, his wife Rita Devi, aged 58 years, and their daughter Arushi Devi, aged 15 years, all residents of Godar, also sustained serious injuries in the accident.
All the injured were later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for specialized treatment. Local police have taken cognizance of the matter and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the collision.
