Robbery case worked out within hours, accused held with weapon

JAMMU, July 15: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in Satwari area claimed to have cracked a robbery case within 12 hours by arresting the accused and recovering the looted items, including gold, silver, and cash from his possession.
A police official said the case was reported on July 14 by one Rajeev Khajuria of Babliana, Gangyal, who informed the police that an unknown person, wearing a mask and wielding a sharp-weapon (Toka), robbed him near Raina Colony, Babliana.
According to him, the accused fled after snatching a gold chain weighing around 5 grams, and a silver ring, with Rs 550 in cash from the victim.
Accordingly, he said, a case under section 309(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Satwari and a team led by SHO concerned, Inspector Jai Paul Singh and PSI Adarsh Thakur, under the supervision of SDPO South, Sunil Singh Jasrotia, and SP South, Ajay Sharma, constituted to probe into the crime.
“Using CCTV footage and technical leads, the police team arrested the accused, Paramjeet Singh alias Pammi of Upper Gadigarh, Babliana, on the same day,” the police official said.
He said the stolen items, worth around Rs 5 lakh, were recovered from the possession of the accused, who is a habitual offender. A toka was also recovered from his possession, he said.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway, he added.
