KATRA, July 15: Police arrested a drug peddler from Ban Ganga area in the holy town and recovered more than half kg cannabis like substance from his possession.
The accused was identified as Vikram Bandral, son of Hans Raj, resident of Main Chowk Tikri, Udhampur, presently residing at SMVD Track, Purana Daroor, Ban Ganga, Katra.
Today around 1100 hours, a police team deployed at Ban Ganga Katra intercepted the accused who was riding a motorcycle bearing registration number JK06C-3907, coming from Katra side towards Ban Ganga.
Upon thorough search of his belongings, one black-colored polythene bag containing approximately 509.930 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession following which he was arrested on the spot.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 201/2025 under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra and further investigation is underway to unearth forward and backward links of the narcotics network.
