JAMMU, July 8: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) have seized 15 to 20 quintals of illegally felled khair wood from Gharota area here today.
A TaTa Safari vehicle loaded with 15-20 quintals of the illegally felled khair wood was seized during routine checking of vehicles at Kanger Morh, Kargil Colony area, a police official said.
He said the action was taken in view of the transportation of the wood for commercial purposes without valid documentation.
According to him, a Forest Offence Report has been registered in connection with the incident and concerned forest officials have been duly informed for further investigation into the matter and legal action thereof.
