Army Chief reviews security situation along LoC

JAMMU, July 13:
General Bikram Singh, Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) who was on two days farewell visit to Northern Command today visited border district Rajouri and reviewed the security situation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu .
According to Defence spokesperson Northern Command, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) earlier in the day had visited Srinagar based HQ 15 Corps, where he addressed and interacted with the troops. He also called on the Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister of State Omar Abdullah during his stay at summer capital and arrived Northern Command Udhampur last evening.
“At Northern Command, Gen Bikram Singh paid homage to the martyrs at Dhruva War Memorial and also addressed all ranks afterwards he was accorded a warm farewell by troops of HQ Northern Command. During his address, he complimented all officers and men for their exemplary sense of duty, people friendly approach during counter terrorist operations, extending humanitarian assistance to common masses and also in resolutely guarding the Northern frontiers.
He exhorted his men to follow the rich military traditions, ethos and the value systems and the importance of remaining committed to their duties while catering for all contingencies.
“Later in the day, Army Chief and president Central AWWA also visited Rajouri and Tanda, spokesperson said adding, “during his visit to border district Rajouri the COAS Mr Singh reviewed the operational preparedness along the Line of Control and security situation in the hinterland”.
Thereafter he left for Jammu, spokesperson said adding, “Army Chief along with president Central AWWA Bubbles Singh is on farewell visits to various formations as he retires from the Army on July 31”. (AGENCIES)
