JAMMU, June 28: A delegation of the Jammu and Kashmir Petroleum Dealers Association today met the Controller of Legal Metrology, J&K, Rajinder Singh Tara, to discuss the challenges faced by petroleum dealers across the Union Territory.
The delegation, led by Association President Rahul Gupta, congratulated the Controller on assuming charge and submitted a memorandum listing key issues for departmental consideration.
They also stressed the need for close coordination to ensure smooth service delivery at fuel outlets.
The Controller assured the association of full support from the department.
He said the department would organise awareness programmes regularly to educate dealers on legal and technical provisions, helping them comply voluntarily with the rules.
He urged petroleum dealers to handle consumer grievances with seriousness and work to reduce complaints by prioritising customer satisfaction.
Special emphasis was also laid on maintaining proper amenities at fuel stations, especially along highways, in view of the upcoming Shri Amarnathji Yatra 2025.
Reiterating the department’s commitment to business-friendly reforms, the Controller said that genuine businesses would be facilitated under the Business Reform Action Plan while ensuring consumer protection through strict enforcement of metrology standards.
