Narinder Singh to attend Kanishka tragedy commemoration event

JAMMU, June 20: At the 40th anniversary memorial of the AirIndia Kanishka tragedy at Ahakista Cork, Government of India is sending a delegation to Cork Ireland.
The 7-member delegation, led by Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, will comprise Tarun Chugh and Narinder Singh, MLA R S Pura and Deputy Leader of Opposition in J&K Legislative Assembly. He is only person from J&K in this delegation.
Pertinent to mention that the “Kanishka tragedy” refers to the bombing of Air India Flight 182, also known as Kanishka, on June 23, 1985. The flight, en route from Montreal to New Delhi, exploded mid-air off the coast of Ireland, killing all 329 people on board. The tragedy is considered one of the worst acts of terrorism involving an airplane.
The delegation will attend the 40th anniversary commemoration event at Cork, Ireland on 23 June morning.
