SRINAGAR, June 18: J&K Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari today said that everyone has a role to play in reviving tourism in Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters after leading a Shikara rally on Dal Lake, Bukhari said that people across the country must know that Kashmir is safe and its people are ready to welcome visitors.
“Everyone has to play their part in the revival of tourism in Kashmir. We came out today with the people of Srinagar to play our role and to send a message to the country that Kashmir is safe and its people are waiting,” he said.
Bukhari added that Kashmir is safe, just as it was before April 22. “Come back-people here, along with the security forces, will ensure your safety,” he said.
He also highlighted the challenges faced by tourism stakeholders, saying they have been hit hard by the downturn and need government support.
“This rally was also an expression of solidarity with those in the tourism sector who are struggling. There is an urgent need for the government to extend support and ensure their hand holding,” Bukhari said.
