JAMMU, June 16: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Central Zone (comprising Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts) held a crucial meeting under the chairmanship of former Minister and Zone president Babu Rampaul to assess the party’s shortcoming in Assembly elections and to strategize for the upcoming Panchayat and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) polls.
Besides, a detailed discussion was also held on the host of public issues which need immediate attention. The meeting was organized by Zonal Secretary and Coordinator Jammu District JKNC, Dr Vikas Sharma.
During the meeting, senior office bearers conducted a comprehensive review of the election results for constituencies under the Central Zone.
The discussion focused on identifying shortcomings in outreach, communication, and organizational coordination. Members stressed the need for rejuvenating the party cadre at the grassroots level to restore public confidence.
Calling for immediate action on the ground, Rampaul instructed party workers to intensify their outreach among the public. “The party must launch an active campaign to listen to people’s grievances, address local issues, and connect the masses with the party’s core ideology,” he said.
The party leadership emphasized that a grassroots campaign is essential for reviving voter confidence and ensuring strong performance in forthcoming local elections.
He reaffirmed the National Conference’s commitment, under the leadership of Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah, for promoting democratic governance and socio-economic welfare across Jammu and Kashmir.
The JKNC Central Zone urged the present Government to take urgent steps to further improve the civic amenities, lake water supply, healthcare services, and uninterrupted electricity as the people face hardships due to on-going heat waves.
Dr Vikas Sharma in his address slammed the BJP for adopting policies which are anti-poor, anti-youth, and anti-downtrodden class pushing the region into economic degradation, administrative chaos and confusion as well as developmental apathy.
Among those who attended the meeting were Rajinder Chanyal, Bharat Bushan, Dr Gourav Bharat, BD Dalotra, Surjeet Singh Sasan, SP Bhardwaj, Naved Raja, Arvind Jamwal, Sat Paul and others.
