Regional Councils

Sir,
This refers to the write up titled ‘Batting for Regional Councils in J&K”, DE Dated 24th June. The substance of this wonderful writing of Col Singh is indicative of the writing on the wall. Yes there is a marked change in the attitude of some Congress ministers since 2008 when leaders of all the political parties of the State realised that besides much hyped Kashmir problem, there are lesser known, underestimated and equally serious problems of Jammu and Ladakh regions. How  strange it sounds that Indians all over this subcontinent got freedom in 1947 and to our grave ill luck the people of Jammu and Ladakh got enslaved covertly.
Their experience of past more than six decades has taught them that they are no more prepared to the branded as “also ran champions”. They want their share of empowerment, advancement and human dignity which Indians are enjoying all over the country without regional, religious, caste creed and discrimination. Congress leaders of Jammu origion too, for the past some years, have started showing sharp differences with Kashmir centric party leaders inspite of being a part of the governing apparatus and refugees  rehabilitation/citizenship rights, Justice Sageer Committee report, undue farours to the antinationals and terrorists are some of the example. Veteran  Congressman Abdul Gani Vakil’s repeated outbursts for constitution of a commission to evaluate the moveable and immoveable assets of the politicians and the important Govt functionaries of J&K too are very meaningful in this context.
Sufferings of Jammu people are getting worsened by the support of Jammu origion politicians, publicmen and even some intellectuals to the violence promoter seperatist ideology of Kashmir centric political parties. Individuals, group or groups of people born and brought up at a particular piece of land of this mother earth get the recognition attached to the identity of that particular place and by that measure we all, irrespective of our caste, creed, religion, political affiliations and social customs etc born and brought up in Jammu region are the sons and daughters of Jammu but unlike others we don’t share this pride of being sons of this sacred soil amongst, us and we don’t project ourselves as such and this has become our biggest misfortune. Many of us who have their long tales of sufferings because of various seasons including regional disparities, do have a wish to address all the sons and daughters of Jammu region as also the exiled Kashmiri Pandits in the words “Aa Ghar Lout Challen” to fight for our rights collectively against the  separatist,  and anti Bhartiya ideology. The popular Urdu Poet Sahir Ludhyanvi  had long back written this couplet in this very context :
Raat bhar ka hai mehman  andhera
kis ke roke ruka  hai savera.
Yours etc…
