Silver futures down 0.30 per cent on global trend

NEW DELHI, July 7: Silver prices moved down by 0.30 per cent to Rs 44,911 per kg in futures trade today as speculators partially offloaded positions amid a weak global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September shed Rs 137, or 0.30 per cent, to Rs 44,911 per kg in a business turnover of 194 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in December declined by Rs 234, or 0.29 per cent, to Rs 45,750 per kg in nine lots.

Market analysts said speculators trimmed positions in tandem with a weak global trend as the outlook for higher borrowing costs in the US strengthened the dollar, reducing appeal for the precious metals as a safe-haven, weighed on silver futures here.

Meanwhile, silver fell 0.50 per cent to USD 21.05 an ounce in Singapore today. (PTI)
