CJ inaugurates six legal aid clinics in remote areas of Leh

LEH, June 13: Justice Arun Palli, Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh and patron-in-chief of Ladakh Legal Services Authority, virtually inaugurated six legal aid clinics at Hanle, Wanla, Baima, Saspol, Chuchot and Sumoor. The event was held at the District Court Complex Leh.
The virtual ceremony was graced by Justice Sindhu Sharma, Judge of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Executive Chairperson of Ladakh Legal Services Authority, along with Judges from the High Court of Punjab and Haryana.
Also present were M K Sharma, Registrar General; Anoop Kumar Sharma, Registrar IT (Virtual); Manoj Parihar, Member Secretary and Principal District & Sessions Judge, Leh; Tsewang Phuntsog, CJM Leh; Phuntsog Angmo, Secretary DLSA and Special Mobile Magistrate, Leh; Lakshay Badiyal, Munsiff Nubra; senior prosecuting officers; bar members; legal aid defense counsels; and court staff.
Chief Justice Palli acknowledged the efforts of the legal services institutions in ensuring justice delivery at the grassroots level despite geographical challenges. He emphasized the judiciary’s responsibility to ensure equitable access to justice for all and called the establishment of these clinics a vital step in that direction.
The welcome address was delivered by Manoj Parihar, and the vote of thanks was presented by Mohd Shafi, president of the Bar Association, Leh. The program was coordinated by Phuntsog Angmo.
Following the event, the Chief Justice conducted inspections of the courts in Leh, interacted with judicial officers and bar members, and issued on-the-spot directions for redressal of grievances raised by the stakeholders.
