JAMMU, July 6: Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation (TRCF), a frontal organization of Gujjar and Bakerwal tribes, has filed a petition against 10 institutions of J&K before National Commission for Schedule Tribes (NCST) complaining that all these institutions failed to implement reservation laws meant for STs in recruitment and promotions.
The 10 institutions against which petition filed include Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Rajouri, Sher-e-Kashmiri University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST), University of Kashmir, J&K Corporations, SKIMS, Srinagar, Government Medical College, Srinagar, Islamic University, Srinagar, J&K Bank, Jammu and Kashmir Grameen Bank and National Institute of Technology, Srinagar.
Confirming this Dr Javaid Rahi, Secretary, TRCF said that the legal wing of our organisation has filed a petition before Chairman of Tribal Commission, New Delhi requesting for a direction to State for granting 10% reservation to STs in all the institutions and provide constitutional safeguards to nomadic and tribal communities of J&K.
The petitioner demanded full benefits of reservation for the people of weaker sections like Scheduled Tribes (STs), for direct recruitment to the posts fall under streams.
