Two inter-state drug peddlers held with 350 gm opium

JAMMU, June 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested two inter-state drug peddlers and recovered 350 grams of opium from their possession in the Talab Tillo area today.
A police official said that the arrests were made during a routine naka established at Kabir Colony.
“Two individuals coming on foot from Talab Tillo behaved suspiciously on seeing the police and tried to flee. However, alert police personnel apprehended them and searched the bags they were carrying,” he said.
During the search, the police official said 226.70 grams of opium was recovered from one Sudhir Singh and 123.50 grams from Surya Partap Singh, both residents of Shahjahanpur District in Uttar Pradesh.
Accordingly, he said, a case under FIR number 75/2025 under sections 8, 18, and 29 of the NDPS Act was registered against the duo at Police Station Nowabad and further investigation started to identify the supply chain and network behind the smuggling.
More arrests and recoveries are expected, he said.
Pertinently, the operation was led by Inspector Deepak Pathania, SHO Nowabad, assisted by PSI Paramjeet, in-charge Police Post Talab Tillo, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters, Farha Nishat and SP City North, Vivek Shekhar.
