SUCHETGARH, July 5: R S Chib, former Minister and member Rajya Sainik Board, J&K today paid tributes to Shaheed Dev Raj Sharma who laid down his life while defending the motherland on July 5, 1999 at Tiger Hill Kargil during operation Vijay in which Pakistan suffered a humiliating defeat.
Mr Chib appealed youth of this border area to take inspiration from the sacrifices made by our heroes like Dev Raj and come forward to serve in Defence forces of the country.
A large number of local leaders including Sarpanchs and Panchs also paid rich tributes to Shaheed Dev Raj. They include, Sarpanchs Swaran Singh, Rachpal Singh Gill, Kewal Krishan Chib, Swaran Lal Bhagat, Naresh Bittu, Capt Janak Singh, Rajesh Bittoo, Arjun Singh, Kirpal Singh, Capt Waryam Singh, Choudhary Jeet Raj, Satwinder Singh, Sobha Singh, Darshan Lal and Bhagat Sant Ram.
Nirmala Sharma, wife of Shaheed Dev Raj Sharma along with her three children and members of family also paid floral tributes.
