NDS organizes musical programme of Dogri songs

JAMMU, June 9: Col Subhash Chander Gupta (Retd), a talented music composer and an AIR ” B High Grade” artist for the last more than fifty years now, presented a programme of Dogri songs on Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) platform which was attended by music composers, singers and music lovers in large number.
Wing Commander M M Joshi (Retd) and presently National Commissioner for “Scouts and Guides” , Chairman Lawrance Public School and Founder Advisor of Gandhi Global Family presided over and Major General S K Sharma , a noted social worker and an impactful crusader working for the cause of Dogri language, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Kamal Sharma, former SP and renowned Rhythmist, Drama artist and actor was special guest whereas noted singer Anita Sharma, a household name of her times in Dogri Music, was guest of honour.
Prof Anupama Sharma, Patron NDS and noted singer shared the dais along with Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President NDS. Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary NDS, compeered the proceedings.
On the occasion, Nami Dogri Sanstha conferred upon Col S C Gupta the”Sanstha Sammaan” with citation, shawl and a trophy. Other eminent personalities on the dais were also felicitated.
Col Gupta, who has composed more than nine hundred bhajans, kafies, gazals, Shabads, Punjabi and Dogri songs, presented five Dogri songs penned by famous Dogri lyricist. He was accompanied by Dr Murli Manohar, former HoD Tabla Deptt of Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, on Tabla, Vijay Anand on Dholak, Rakesh Jasotra on flute and Sunil Sharma on synth.
On repeated request by audience, Anita Sharma presented two popular Dogri songs, “Koon, Koon Koon, Katani Aan Mein Roon” and “Tu Malla Tu” which enthralled the audience and was a musical treat for all.
