JAMMU, June 8: Reiterating that the reversal of the Kashmiri Pandit genocide is only possible through the establishment of a separate homeland in Kashmir, Panun Kashmir (PK) convened a key core group meeting in Jammu to intensify its demand.
The meeting, presided over by PK president Virender Raina, brought together top functionaries including Kamal Bagati, Sameer Bhat, Ashok Chrungoo, and Upinder Koul (joining virtually from Delhi NCR). Senior BJP and KP leader Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo also participated, sharing insights from ongoing advocacy efforts in the national capital.
In his address, Raina reaffirmed the community’s historical and civilizational claim to Kashmir and declared that only the implementation of the 1991 Margdarshan Resolution in letter and spirit could ensure a dignified and permanent return of the displaced Pandits. He emphasized that the issue demands a political resolution beyond temporary administrative measures.
Ashwani Chrungoo spoke about his recent initiatives in Delhi, including efforts to restore relief benefits to displaced KPs in NCR and unify various KP groups under a common cause. He stressed the importance of retaining the genocide narrative as central to the community’s struggle.
Kamal Bagati outlined plans for the upcoming Panun Kashmir Conclave and advocated for the passage of the long-pending Temples and Shrines Bill. Upinder Koul and Sameer Bhat discussed grassroots mobilisation and youth outreach initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to pursue justice, political empowerment, and the establishment of a secure and sovereign homeland for the Kashmiri Pandit community.
