POONCH, June 7: A historical Chandak-Mandi road leading to the Baba Budha Amarnath Temple, Shrine of Sain Ilahi Bakhsh and other religious, tourist places is in worst condition from last many years but no proper macadamization work is being carried out on it leaving lakhs of commuters in distress to travel on it.
Information reveals that commuters have raised their voices against dilapidated condition of this road through media and on social media platforms many times but inspite of macadamizing the road, the concerned department which is R&B PWD has started work to fill potholes with soil which has been interpreted with injustice by the people regularly travelling on it. Moreover all main roads in tehsil Mandi are in dilapidated condition including many others in Surankote, Mendhar and outskirts in Poonch city.
Ghulam Hussain, Kabir Din, Bashir Ahmed, Javid Qureshi, Sajad Ahmed and many other people said it is shameful for both LG Administration and J&K Government as well as for the department who failed to macadamize this road properly from years. “The road was widened with the funds worth crores. We witnessed the macadamization of potholes and last year and some times before as well but the money of our tax is going in the drain, “ they said.
“We are surprised that why authorities are not taking this issue seriously as we are raising this matter since long, our bodies are aching and vehicles are damaged, two wheelers are not able to move on in road and now when the soil is being used to fill potholes it has caused further problem as more dust is all around on the road. We request Union Road and Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, LG Manoj Sinha and higher authorities of PWD department to macadamize this road completely from Chandak to Mandi before the annual yatra of Shri Budha Amarnath Ji,” they added.
