JAMMU, July 4: Youth Congress held a protest demonstration outside the Jammu University Campus, here today.
While demanding roll back of increased prices of petrol, diesel and LPG, the protesters burnt the effigy of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.
The protesting activists chanted slogans against Modi Government and demanded rolling back of the decision of raising the rates of LPG, petrol and diesel.
In his message to protesting Youth Congress & NSUI workers, Shahnawaz Choudhary, State president of J&K Pradesh Youth Congress said that BJP has made a false promise to the people of the nation to give them ‘Achey Din’ but in reality they are giving us ‘Expensive days’ by increasing the prices of essential commodities, one by one ranging from LPG, petrol and diesel to the prices of essentials of daily use and railway fare.
He added that Youth Congress will not sit silent till hike in rail fare and other essential commodities is rolled back.
While addressing, Jatinder Singh Chib, Youth Congress leader, Gandhi Nagar said that ‘Increase in prices of petrol, diesel and gas (LPG) will result in the increase in price of all commodities, adding that when BJP was campaigning before the elections, they had promised to curb inflation and cut down the cost of basic amenities, but only a month after coming into power, the BJP Government has started increasing the price of almost everything.
While warning the NDA Government of intensifying agitation if the Centre continued to take such ‘anti-people decisions’, Ajaz Choudhary, Assembly president Youth Congress Mendhar said that BJP has betrayed the people in the name of ‘Achey Din’.
Others who were present in the protest demonstration included Shabir Kohli, Manmohan Singh, Vishal, Ashwani and others.
