JAMMU, July 4: A married woman, who happens to be a Naib Tehsildar in Revenue Department, flayed the Police Department for not taking action against her husband, who tried to murder her by serving poisonous substance laced coffee on June 29 and a case in this regard stands registered at Trikuta Nagar police station.
Seeking justice, the woman has appealed the Chief Minister to intervene into the matter and take action against the accused persons so that justice prevails.
Narrating her ordeal, the woman namely Riffat, daughter of Haider Hussain of Vidhata Nagar, Bhathindi, working in the Revenue Department as Naib Tehsildar since 2009 said that she was married to Extension Officer of Agriculture Department posted at Seot, tehsil Nowshera namely Masood Ahmed Choudhary, son of Bahuddin, a resident of Macca Masjid, Bathindi in the year 2012 and is having a 10-months-old girl.
Masood with the intention to get money and dowry started torturing and harassing me with the help of his two sisters vis-à-vis through illegal and uncivilized means, she added.
“When I refused to accept the demands of husband, the latter along with his two sisters planned to murder me and forced me to drink coffee laced with poisonous substance at Bahu Plaza on June 29”, she said.
She added that after consuming coffee, she became unconscious and the accused took her to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where his sister Dr Ruksana who was on duty in the Hospital under the guise of treatment, conducted unnecessary tests instead of immediate stomach wash.
“I became totally unconscious and my parents shifted me to Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Ludhiana and saved my life”, she said.
An attempt to murder case was registered under FIR number 123/14 under Section 307 of RPC at police station Trikuta Nagar on July 2, but no arrest has been till today, she said, adding that delay in the arrest of the accused clearly reflects that the accused are having hand in glove with the police.
When contacted SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq said that “we have registered an attempt to murder case against the husband of the woman and raids are being conducted to arrest him”. He added that the accused is absconding but will be behind the bars soon.
