Third faculty induction program inaugurated at MMTTC-SMVDU

JAMMU, June 4: The UGC-Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University inaugurated the Third Guru-Dakshta Faculty Induction Program.
The program aims to equip newly appointed faculty members in higher education institutions with the essential knowledge, skills, and values for effective teaching and academic leadership. Out of 308 applicants, 284 participants have been declared eligible for the program.
Prof Pragati Kumar, chief guest of the function and Vice-Chancellor (VC), SMVDU, formally inaugurated the program and delivered an inspiring keynote address. Drawing upon his over four decades of academic and administrative experience, Prof Kumar stressed the urgency of transforming teaching practices in the context of 21st century challenges. He emphasized that educators must become lifelong learners, adaptable and responsive to a rapidly evolving educational ecosystem. His session, filled with thought-provoking anecdotes and practical insights, struck a chord with the diverse audience.
Earlier the program began with opening remarks by Prof Supran K Sharma, Director, UGC-MMTTC, who introduced the objectives of the Guru-Dakshta Program under the National Education Policy. He emphasized that the Faculty Induction Program is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in pedagogy, professional ethics, research orientation, and institutional governance to early-career faculty members.
Prof R K Mishra, member of the MMTTC core team, was also present and shared his valuable perspectives during the session. This edition of the program is notable for its pan-India representation, with participants joining from almost all states of the country, effectively making it a “Mini India” in virtual form.
The Program is being coordinated by Dr Kamaldeep, with Dr Anil Kumar Bhardwaj serving as co-coordinator. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Bhardwaj, who acknowledged the contributions of all dignitaries, resource persons, participants, and organizing team members for ensuring a successful start to this nationally significant initiative.
