JAMMU, June 2: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has assigned additional administrative responsibilities to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sanjeev Verma and Secretary Public Works (R&B) Department Bhupinder Kumar.

As per an order, Sanjeev Verma, who recently took over as Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir, has also been given the additional charge of Commissioner Secretary to the Government, Election Department.
Another order said that Bhupinder Kumar, the 2011 batch AGMUT Cadre IAS officer, who is currently serving as Secretary, R&B Department and Director, Citizen Registration, for J&K and Ladakh, shall also hold the additional charges of the posts of Resident Commissioner in New Delhi and Administrative Secretary of the Hospitality and Protocol Department, in addition to his duties.
“In the interest of administration, it is hereby ordered that Bhupinder Kumar, IAS (AGMUT: 2011), Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department (holding additional charge of the post of Director of Citizen Registration (DCR) for the UTs of J&K and Ladakh), shall in addition to his own duties, hold the charge(s) of Resident Commissioner, J&K Government, New Delhi and Administrative Secretary, Hospitality and Protocol Department, till further orders,” read an order issued by M Raju, Commissioner Secretary to the Government, General Administration Department.
Meanwhile, the administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh has relieved IAS officer Yetindra M Maralkar (AGMUT: 2013), CEO Ladakh, from his duties with effect from May 31, 2025.
An order issued in this context on May 30 followed directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Election Commission of India.
As per the order, Maralkar has been directed to report to the Chief Secretary’s office in the Government of Goa for his next posting.
In the meantime, Bhupesh Choudhary, IAS, who is currently serving as Administrative Secretary for Transport, Agriculture & Horticulture, and Cooperatives, has been asked to handle the responsibilities of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs and Elections departments until further orders.
Another order issued by the Ladakh Administration said that following the transfer of IAS officer Yetindra M Maralkar, Sonam Chosjor, JKAS, shall hold the temporary charge of Chief Electoral Officer, Ladakh.
Currently serving as the Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Chosjor will handle the responsibilities of the Chief Electoral Officer in addition to his present duties until further orders.
