Cong pays tribute to Nehru

JAMMU/SRINAGAR, May 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) today paid floral tribute to the first Prime Minister of India on his 61st death anniversary, recollecting his great contributions and selfless services to the Nation.
In the main function held at Congress headquarters Jammu PCC president, Tariq Hameed Karra presided while working president Raman Bhalla besides several senior leaders, former ministers, former legislators, and party functionaries of PCC, DCC, Blocks and Frontal organizations were present.

Paying floral tribute to the architect of Modern India, great freedom fighter and stalwart of international repute JKPCC chief Karra said that the entire world is impressed by the philosophy of Nehru apart from Mahatma Gandhi and try to follow and respect him in many ways but unfortunately there are forces who are scared of his philosophy and ideology and use every occasion to erode his contribution and achievements and sacrifices for the nation.
Karra said that Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Nehru and Congress opposed and resisted the division of the country but those opportunist force having radical ideology led to the division of the country, where as those very forces joined hands with Muslim league of Jinnah for sharing power in various states. But now those forces are trying to be ultra nationalist.
He said that Pandit Nehru laid the strong foundations of independent India as a result the country has progressed in all spheres of the life and is touching new heights in the world order.
JKPCC chief further said that the best tribute to our founding fathers would be to pass on and strengthen their philosophy thoughts and contributions to the younger generations. Sighting the case of the downgrading of the J&K state into UT Karra said this is against the spirit of the constitution that a full fledged state has been divided and downgraded while retreating the demand of the early restoration of the statehood. He urged the Government to install a statue of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru at an appropriate place in Jammu. Karra also questioned the authorities over the statue of Mahatma Gandhi which is missing from Mubarakh Mandi Complex and also from Satwari Chowk.
Prominent leaders included Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Ved Mahajan, Manmohan Singh, Indu Pawar, Rajnish Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Satish Sharma, T S Tony, Suresh Dogra, Gurdarshan Singh, Zahida Khan, Vijay Sharma, Rajinder Singh, Sanjeev Panda, Rajveer Singh, Neeraj Gupta, Kapil Singh, Rajeev Saraf, R A Inqlabi, Jatin Raina, ML Chalotra and others.
Congress also held another function to pay tribute to Nehru at Srinagar party office.
Former JKPCC president Peerzada Mohd Sayeed chaired the function while senior Congress leaders including DCC presidents and various other leaders of Kashmir province participated and paid floral tribute to Nehru on his death anniversary
Speaking on the occasion, Peerzada Mohd Sayeed described Nehru as the author of modern India, who laid the foundation of progressive Nation and worked very hard to empower every section of the people equally.
Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Surinder Singh Chani, Abdul Gani Khan, Nissar Ahmad Mundoo, Mahila president Shameema Raina, Mohd Iqbal Mir (Ang), DCC Presidents Irfan Naqib, Zaffar Farooq Salati, Abdul Rashid Lone, Umer Jaan, Mushtaq Ahmad Tantray, Shaheena Neda and others also paid floral tribute to Pt Nehru and highlighted his leadership qualities and selfless services to the Nation.
Similar functions were held at various other places across the region.
