Kashmiri Pandits are victims of genocide: PK

Sponsors 15 youth for course studies

JAMMU, May 26: Panun Kashmir (PK), an organisation of Kashmiri Pandits fighting for separate homeland for the community in Kashmir Valley on North East of river Jhelum and demanding that Kashmiri Pandits be declared as victims of genocide through a law enacted by Parliament, has decided to launch a massive campaign for the same across country.
In this regard a major initiative has been taken by PK to build scholarly understanding and intellectual capacity among youth as Panun Kashmir (Yuva) has sponsored 15 of its members to undertake a specialised course in Genocide Studies offered by the Jonaraja Institute of Genocide and Atrocities Studies (JIGAS).
The announcement was made by Chestha Bakshi, Coordinator of Panun Kashmir (Yuva) here who said this was possible with the motivational and inspirational campaigning and vision of PK leaders led by Dr. Ajay Chrungoo, its Chairman. “This is a crucial step in preparing our youth to understand and articulate the genocidal experience of our community through a rigorous academic lens,” said Chestha Bakshi.
While the Jonaraja Institute has emerged as a respected centre for Indic and global genocide studies, notably, many of its alumni now teach in prestigious international institutions, making significant contributions to the field of genocide research.
The course aims to familiarize participants with global genocide frameworks while rooting their understanding in the civilizational experiences and historical memory of the Kashmiri Hindu community. This effort is seen as part of a long-term strategy to cultivate a new generation of youth leaders equipped with scholarly tools to assert the truth of Kashmiri Hindu genocide in academic and policy-making arenas across the world.
It may be recalled that PK has outrightly rejected the term migration affixed with Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to flee from Kashmir in early nineties and termed it a genocide perpetuated by Jihadi elements and Pakistan. They said that Jehadis on behest of Pakistan were responsible of ethenic cleansing of Hindus from Kashmir as well as higher reaches of Jammu region under Dixon plan.
In support of their argument they quoted the National Human Rights Commission ruling which has termed the mass exodus of Kashmiri Hindus akin to genocide and urged the Government of India that the community be declared as victims of genocide and it’s perpetrators be identified and punished under law of the land.
