DODA, May 26: Police here today foiled four bovine smuggling bids and arrested 14 smugglers thereby rescuing 62 bovine animals.
Sources informed that cops from Police Station Dessa rescued 22 bovines from Abdul Gani, Abdul Rashid Muneer Hussain and Manzoor Ahmed, all sons of Mohd Kala, resident of Kunda Malan and Abbid Hussain, son of Abdul Qayoom, resident of Dhandal Kashtigarh, Doda at Dogadda Brahamdhar area of Police Station Dessa. The bovine were being smuggled to Kashmir valley without any permission and in cruel manner.
A case in FIR No. 07/2025 US 223 BNS, 11PC Act was registered in this regard at Police Station Deesa.
Cops from Police Station Dessa while on patrolling duty at Gutul area of Dessa intercepted five persons Mohd Shafi, son of Ab Kareem; Noorani Chowhan, son of Ghulam Mohd; Abdul Gani, son of Kareem; Mohd Rafi, son of Qassim and Ali Mohd, son of Hisham Din, all residents of Nicha Kuchaal in Kishtwar along with 33 bovine animals.
During enquiry, these persons failed to produce any kind of valid permission regarding movement of these bovine animals towards Kashmir.
They were all booked in FIR No. 08/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PC Act registered at Police Station Dessa and were arrested while the bovine animals were rescued from them.
A Naka for checking of vehicles was established at Pul Doda by cops of Police Post Pul Doda. During checking one vehicle of Mahindra Pick Up make bearing registration number JK06C/4056 coming from Kishtwar was signaled to stop and during its checking cops found it loaded with 3 bovine animals.
Two persons Asif Hussain, son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Trown and Aqib Hussain, son of Javaid Hussain, resident of Nalwa Doda travelling in the vehicle failed to produce permission regarding transportation of these bovines. Upon this an FIR No. 127/2025 U/S 223 BNS, 11 PC Act was registered at Police Station Doda.
In yet another case cops at Naka checking intercepted a vehicle bearing registration no. JK06C 3591 which was stopped and during checking cops found 4 bovines loaded in it in cruel manner.
The vehicle was being driven by Mohd Rafiq, son of Gh Ali, resident of Dali and co-passenger was Ashiq Hussain, son of Mohd Iqbal Naik, resident of Dashnan Doda. They failed to produce any valid permission for transportation of bovines. Accordingly a case in FIR No. 128/2025, U/S 223 BNS 11 PC Act was registered at Police Station Doda. Investigation in all these cases was taken up.
