JAMMU, May 25: National Medicos Organization (NMO), Jammu in collaboration with GAIMS JAMMU hosted a successful clothing donation event at Maratha Basti, Jammu.
The event aimed to collect gently used clothing and distribute it to vulnerable communities, including the homeless and underprivileged. The initiative promoted sustainability, reduced clothing waste, and supported vulnerable communities.
Medical students from GMC Jammu enthusiastically donated their used and unused clothes, which were sorted and packaged by NMO woekers and GAIMS members for distribution.
The collected clothes were distributed to underprivileged individuals, providing them with essential clothing items. This event fostered a sense of community among the medical students, promoting empathy and social responsibility.
The event was a success, with about 80-90 people benefiting from 170 clothing items. The programme was conducted under supervision of Dr Deepak Kumar, NMO general secretary, Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh prant. Rajat Kapoor (Vidyarthi Pramukh) and other members of NMO Jammu and GAIMS Jammu were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Deepak Kumar said, “Such initiatives can have a profound impact on building compassionate and empathetic healthcare professionals. We’re thrilled to have made a positive impact on the lives of underprivileged individuals in our community.”
