Police cracks theft case

Srinagar, May 23: Srinagar Police today cracked a theft case by arresting three persons and recovering gold items valued at around Rs 9 lakh, along with a vehicle used in the crime.
According to the police, the case was registered at Nishat Police Station following a complaint by Ghulam Qadir, resident of Pati Brein, Nishat.
The complainant reported that on February 19, 2025, unknown thieves broke into his home and stole valuable gold items.
FIR No. 10/2025 was filed under relevant sections of law, and an investigation was launched immediately, police said.
As per police, through meticulous investigation, and the use of technical and digital evidence, police identified and apprehended three accused.
They have been identified as Mohd Hafiz Ganie of Shallbugh Ganderbal, Bilal Ahmad Ganie of Asham Sumbal Bandipora, and Bilal Ahmad Dar of Safapora Bandipora.
On their disclosures, police recovered the stolen gold items worth approximately Rs 9 lakh and seized an Alto vehicle, bearing registration number HR13E-9346, used during the theft.
