KISHTWAR, May 22: Forest Department here today seized 144 scants of illegally extracted timber.
Forest Protection Force (FPF), J-10 Gama Unit Kishtwar and Territorial Staff of Forest Range, Dachhan conducted a search operation in Compartment No. 33/D, Block Sounder, Range Dachhan.
The operation was carried out by Altaf Hussain Wani, Assistant Director; Abdul Rashid Lone, Assistant Director and Azad Hussain Sheikh, Range Officer, Dachhan along with the staff of both wings of Forest Department.
During inspection, the Forest Department team seized 144 scants of illegally extracted Deodar and Kail timber (sawn form) stacked at the lower side of the Compartment.
The seizure memo was framed on the spot and was subsequently placed under the Supardnama of Mohd. Aslam, Beat Guard Tounder and Ghulam Hussain, Beat Guard Pingrari.
Further investigation into the forest offense has been initiated.
