UDHAMPUR, May 21: Pawan Khajuria, a senior political leader in an appeal to Union Government led by Narendra Modi and UT Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has urged them that the centres of Common University Entrance Tests (CUET) for the students of J&K be kept in schools of UT and not outside J&K.
Talking to reporters here, today along with Raj Kumar Bucha and Rahul Gupta, Pawan Khajuria said that students after passing 12th class examination and desirous to compete in Common University Entrance Test (CUET) have to participate in the examination outside J&K which is a cumbersome process for them.
He expressed concern over the hardships being faced by the students of J&K in undergoing Common University Entrance Test (CUET).
He said the parents of some of the desirous students’ informed him that their centres of examination have been kept in Rajasthan and other farthest states and they have to visit there twice to participate in such test.
Khajuria said it is economically not viable for them to visit to such far off places to participate in the test and too that twice as the same is very expensive and students from poor family background can’t afford the expenses. He said the poor parents are already facing difficulties in educating their children and they can’t afford to send their children to these far off states twice for taking part in the examination.
Khajuria said though the issue was taken up with the concerned authorities by the parents but they (authorities) failed to do the needful and settle the issue.
He in an appeal to Union HRD Minister, Dharmindra Pradhan and Chief Minister J&K, Omar Abdullah urged them that the examination centres for these students be kept in the schools of J&K so that the students are not put to unnecessary hardships.
