JAMMU, May 18: Residents of Gangyal, Ward 56 Bavliana, Jeevan Nagar, Kunjwani, Ekta Vihar, Bandhu Rakh, Dadap and Dashmesh Nagar have threatened protest if uninterrupted power supply to these areas is not immediately ensured.
Aggrieved over power cuts for six hours in a day, these people met former Gangyal Councilor Satish Sharma and apprised him of their problem. They e explained that Gangyal and other areas have been facing electricity problem for the last few days ever since PDD shifted the load of Seyoda receiving station on Gangyal station. Due to the load of both the receiving stations at one place, the grid gets overloaded forcing power cut and consequent miseries to people, they added.
Satish Sharma told the people that he has been in touch with the officials of the electricity department, who have assured to resolve the issue by Sunday evening. He announced that if the electricity problem is not solved by this evening, a strong protest will be held tomorrow by closing the Jammu-Pathankot National Highway.
