JAMMU, May 17: POWER GRID Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), Northern Region-II, has launched the Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 campaign at its Regional Headquarters in Jammu.
A statement said that the fortnight-long cleanliness drive, which began on May 16 and will continue till May 31, is part of the Government of India’s ongoing initiative to promote sanitation and hygiene across the country.
On the inaugural day, the Swachhata Pledge was administered by Executive Director of NR-II, Tarun Bajaj, to all employees at the headquarters.
He urged employees to take active part in cleanliness-related activities and highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy environment.
The pledge was also taken by employees and staff members at various POWERGRID stations across Northern Region Transmission System-II (NRTS-II).
Continuing the momentum, a large-scale cleanliness drive was carried out on May 17 by the employees of the Regional Office in Jammu.
The area around Bahu Plaza was cleaned thoroughly, giving it a fresh and tidy look. The drive was led by Sanjiv Chowan, Senior General Manager (Projects), and Vinod P Baxla, General Manager (HR).
Employees from all departments, including contractual staff, participated actively in the initiative. Similar activities are being conducted at other POWERGRID locations under NR-II.
POWERGRID, a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, operates a vast network of interstate power transmission lines.
With over 180,000 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, 283 substations, and a transformation capacity exceeding 564,000 MVA, it plays a key role in ensuring reliable power supply across the country.
The company maintains a transmission system availability of over 99% through the use of modern technologies and automation.
The Northern Region-II of POWERGRID covers Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, parts of Haryana, and Chandigarh.
