National Dengue Day observed across J&K

JAMMU, May 16: National Dengue Day (NDD) was observed today across Jammu and Kashmir to spread awareness among the masses on the vector-borne diseases.
A number of activities were organized throughout J&K under the overall leadership of Secretary Health & Medical Education Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, with the guidance of Director Health Services, Jammu Dr Abdul Hamid Zargar, under direct supervision of Dr D J Raina, State Malariologist, J&K, Jammu.
This year’s theme for National Dengue Day was “Check, Clean, Cover: Steps to Defeat Dengue”. To mark the occasion, IEC material was published in leading local newspapers. The information was also spread by through TV, social media and Radio interviews.
A webinar was attended by the State Malariologist and NVBDCP section on NDD-2025 organized by NC-VBDC. Dr D J Raina addressed an assembly of around 200 Army persons in Baghwati Nagar Yatri Niwas as a part of civil army collaboration for percolation of the message in the army personnel. The IEC material was distributed among the personnel and they were requested to carry the message to their homes. A Nukkad Nattak was also presented there by Department of Information & public Relations.
At Provincial Government Ayurvedic Hospital Jammu, Dr Arun Gupta presented a power point presentation regarding integrated approach for prevention & control of dengue to a gathering of doctors.
The Day was also observed at various district headquarters and block headquarters. Rallies were taken and IEC campaign for prevention and control of dengue was done. It also included the participation of schools in the campaign. The Day was also observed by various urban health care institutes where rallies and educational programmes were conducted.
