SAMBA, May 15: Continuing its drive against drug smugglers/peddlers, Samba police has arrested two drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba and recovered 17 grams of heroin (Chitta) like substance from their possession.
Police said its team headed by Incharge Police Post (PP) Mansar during vehicle checking at Naka Mansar under the overall supervision of SSP Samba Virinder Manhas, intercepted a motorcycle bearing Registration Number JK14J-1903 for its checking.
During checking, 17 grams of heroin like substance was recovered from the possession of the two persons riding on the motorcycle.
The drug peddlers identified as Mohd Rafiq, son of Abdul Gani of Kulakh, Sira district Udhampur and Showket Ali, son of Mohd Bashir of Sail Sallan, Gole Mela district Udhampur have been arrested and contraband item along with motorcycle have also been seized, police said.
A case FIR No.138/2025 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Samba and investigation started, police said.
