JAMMU, May 15: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Darshan Rana has unveiled an ambitious and comprehensive agenda aimed at transforming Jammu & Kashmir into a model of peace, progress and prosperity.
In light of recurring ceasefire violations and deep economic challenges in the region, Rana asserted, “We should turn this adversity into opportunity, and J&K into a manufacturing beacon for the world.”
In a statement issued today, BSP proposed allotment of 5 marla plots in safe areas for families living under the constant threat of shelling, along with the development of Model Safe Settlements equipped with schools, hospitals, and clean water.
Rana also called for swift compensation of Rs 20 lakh to families of those martyred and Rs 5 lakh for injured civilians, to be disbursed within 15 days. He also proposed Permanent Border Relief Fund to ensure ongoing financial and psychological assistance.
On the industrial front, Rana stressed the need for peace-driven development policy which included creation of secure industrial zones away from conflict-prone areas, ensuring both investor confidence and worker safety. The policy also includes five-year tax exemptions, subsidies for employing local youth and capital support for MSMEs.
He said industrial clusters and logistics corridors should be developed in Samba, Kathua, Baramulla and Pulwama, supported by modern infrastructure and connectivity. Emphasis should be placed on eco-friendly, high-value manufacturing sectors such as textiles, agro-processing, electronics and pharmaceuticals.
Rana also made a strong pitch for minimum wage reform, demanding an immediate hike in daily wages for unskilled workers to Rs 400 across private sectors. He called for strict enforcement, monthly inspections by the Labour Department and the formation of Labour Protection Cells.
“J&K is not just a strategic frontier—it is a land of talent and dignity. Our industries will become engines of peace and pride,” Rana declared, calling on all stakeholders to join in building a secure and prosperous future for the region.
