JAMMU, May 5: General Line Teachers Forum today held an emergency meeting for urging the Government to be swayed by misleading claims and pressure tactics of the groups projecting unjustified demands of the regularized Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers.
While elaborating, the General Line Teachers said that the repeated demand for the inclusion of the 5-year ReT period for seniority and service benefits despite clear Government guidelines, was not only legally untenable but also an attempt to gain undue advantage over regularly appointed teachers. “JKTJAC is illegal ally pressing for implementation of Govt Order No.469 Edu of 2014 dated 25.06.2014, which has already been stayed by the Division bench of J&K and Ladakh High Court and raising a subjudice matter is a clear cut contempt of court,” they said.
Further, said GLTF, the portrayal of ReT teachers as victims ignores the fact that many of them have already benefitted from multiple regularisations and relaxations. The constant demands for special treatment, bypassing merit-based processes such as DPCs and seniority lists, undermine the principle of equality and fairness in Government service, they added.
Urging the officers of the School Education Department not to be swayed by such unverified claims and pressure groups, the GLTF stressed that the department must adhere strictly to established norms, service rules, and court directions to ensure just and equitable treatment for all categories of teachers.
“We reiterate our support for reforms that are legally sound, transparent, and in the best interest of students, teachers and the education system in Government schools of Jammu and Kashmir,” said the General Line Teachers.
