JAMMU, May 4: Lal Chand Gandotra (District President of Jammu Kashmir Private Schools Association) along with other office bearers accompanied JKPSA president Ajay Gupta on the one day tour to ascertain the grievances of small private schools of rural and border areas of Jammu district.
While speaking, members of different schools said that some private schools are functioning without any recognition/ affiliation by clubbing the students with the nearby Government / recognized private and Zonal Education Officers of different zones.
“Due to the hypocrisy of the JKBOSE/Education Department, all the merits have been left aside which have already been laid in SRO292 of 2018 to the grant of affiliation / recognition in time bound manner to the private schools of Jammu & Kashmir as till date schools whose recognition has lapsed in 2023, 2024 and 2025 are deprived of affiliation / recognition without any fault,” they said.
Members also expressed their serious concern over not obtaining approved management committee from the Director School Education due to the delay in verification of antecedent of the members included in management committee of a school by CID.
President of the Association Ajay Gupta concluded that Education Department has designed a complicated mechanism to harass and torture the small private schools with a motive of their closure. It is unfortunate that Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has till date verified the antecedents of only 70 files out of 420 which were submitted on online mode since 2024 by the DSE, Jammu, he said.
During the meeting, an appeal was made on behalf of all small schools to Shantmanu, Financial Commissioner (Additional Chief Secretary), School Education Department for the withdrawal of the provision of CID verification of the members of the management committee and quick disposal of all files which are gathering dust for the grant of affiliation/ recognition.
Vijay Sharma, Yogesh Sharma, Deep Dayal, Yog Raj Sharma, Anil Sharma, Vineet Gupta and others were the JKPSA members on tour.
