AIZAWL, (Mizoram), Apr 30: Secretary to Government, Cooperation & ICT Departments, Mizoram, Amit Sharma put forth a strong case before the visiting CMD, National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation (NMDFC) Abha Rani Singh and her entire team for extending liberal funding to State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs) like Mizoram Cooperative Apex Bank (MCAB) and ZIDCO here so that the benefit of same could be ultimately extended to the public of the state.
During his address in the Northern Eastern Region States’ review meeting held at Mizoram this time, Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma expressed deep gratitude to NMDFC for selecting Mizoram amongst all NER states to organise this meeting wherein he requested NMDFC to adopt liberal funding stance to SCAs especially MCAB here which is the Apex Cooperative Bank of Mizoram and it has maximum branches and reach to citizens in all districts of the state.
CMD NMDFC Abha Rani Singh placed on-record appreciable work being done by MCAB in Mizoram and complemented the working of Secretary Cooperation Amit Sharma for taking regular financial performance reviews of these Cooperative Agencies here and NMDFC, on his request, further offered complimentary automation software and support towards hiring a professional agency for automation of Banking Operations of MCAB, as per RBI guidelines, for which Secretary Cooperatives is pushing hard since his taking over as Secretary Cooperation here.
Apart from this, Secretary also requested that another old and reputed Apex Cooperative Agency in Handloom and Handloom sector MAHCO from Mizoram should be registered as SCA by NMDFC at the earliest, for which Mizoram Government has already extended a recommendation, as it shall indeed offer a great help and financial support to high potential handloom & handicrafts sector artisans which are struggling for adequate funding.
While noting down all take-aways during the meeting, Secretary Cooperation assured the visiting team of much proactive work and close coordination by Mizoram Government with NMDFC in times to come.
The visiting NMDFC team also happened to meet Chief Secretary Mizoram Khilli Ram Meena and requested the Government to extend pending performance guarantee to NMDFC which shall facilitate more liberal funding to the state here.
