“On April 19, the bloom was at 20 per cent; today, it stands at 15 per cent. When it falls below 10 per cent, we normally conclude the show. By April 24, the Tulip Garden will be closed,” the officials said.
In this regard, the Director of Floriculture, Kashmir, also issued an order announcing the closure of the Tulip Garden from April 24.
“As recommended by the Tulip Committee, the Tulip Garden Srinagar (Tulip Show-2025), which was opened to visitors on March 26, 2025, shall be closed to the general public w.e.f. 24.04.2025 (evening),” the order stated.
Officials further mentioned that since the garden opened to the public, over 8 lakh visitors have visited, with more expected to arrive for a final glimpse of the fading bloom over the next few days.
“Precisely, 8.15 lakh visitors have visited the garden so far. Of these, more than half-66 per cent-were tourists from different parts of the country; nearly one per cent were international tourists, and the rest were locals,” said Javaid Ahmad, In-Charge of the Tulip Garden.
A large number of local residents boosted the overall footfall, especially on April 6, when 52,652 visitors from the region alone were recorded.
The bloom season also attracted a notable number of international tourists-3,302 in total-with the highest single-day count of 447 registered on April 12.
The garden saw overwhelming crowds from the very beginning, with 1,11,565 visitors by March 31 alone.
The highest influx occurred between April 6 and April 12, when 2,63,270 visitors came to see the tulips in full bloom.
Even on April 20, the most recent day for which data is available, the garden welcomed 20,319 visitors.
Notably, on March 26, the Tulip Garden-located at the foothills of the Zabarwan Range and the largest of its kind in Asia-was thrown open to visitors by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
This year, the garden showcased 1.5 million spring-blooming bulbs featuring over 74 tulip varieties, alongside vibrant daffodils, hyacinths, and muscari, offering a spectacular floral experience.
To ensure smooth entry and improve the overall visitor experience, the Department of Floriculture implemented several initiatives this year, focused on expanding outreach and streamlining operations.
Key measures included the launch of online ticketing, improved crowd management systems, and the establishment of ticket counters at Railway Stations, Srinagar International Airport, and major hotels.
In a significant publicity drive, the department partnered with Tourism Directorates across all States and Union Territories, launched targeted social media campaigns, and collaborated extensively to boost visibility and attract tourists from across the country.
