RAJOURI, Apr 20: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking the Rajouri police apprehended one person with 7 grams of heroin (Chitta) during checking at Kallar Naka on Rajouri-Nowshera highway.
Official sources said that a police team from Rajouri led by Vinay Kumar (IPS Probationer) during checking at naka intercepted a motorcycle which was without number plates and was on its way from Nowshera to Rajouri. One individual was found sitting on the said bike. . During questioning the accused identified himself as: Sarbjot Singh, son of Raghbir Singh, resident of Rajpura Kamila, in Lam area.
During his personal search, police recovered heroin, weighing 7 grams from his possession. In this regard, a case of FIR No. 218/2025 under relevant sections of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Rajouri. The accused was arrested on the spot and the recovered contraband has been seized as evidence.
Further investigation is underway to trace the backward and forward linkages of the drug network.
