DSEJ asks teachers to share ideas to boost education quality

JAMMU, Apr 19: The School Education Department has turned to teachers to strengthen the quality of education in Government schools, focusing on making the learning environment more effective and inclusive.
As per a communication issued in this regard by the Directorate of School Education, Jammu (DSEJ), it has been stated that the insights of teachers will play a valuable role in shaping strategies for improving academic performance, classroom engagement, infrastructure use, digital learning, student motivation, teacher empowerment, and the school environment.
“In order to strengthen the quality of education in Government schools, make the learning environment more effective, inclusive, and student-friendly, constructive suggestions and innovative ideas are invited from all Government school teachers,” it stated.
Suggestions have been sought on various themes, including improving reading, writing, and numeracy skills; enhancing the use of Teaching-Learning Material (TLM), teaching-learning methods, and classroom practices; sharing of best practices; improving the overall standard of Government schools; strengthening community and parental involvement; and boosting teacher motivation and collaboration.
Teachers have also been encouraged to submit ideas about promoting a sports culture and effective use of libraries; developing strategies for improving student attendance and retention; integrating technology and digital tools in education; optimizing school environment and infrastructure utilization; and implementing innovative or low-cost initiatives.
The communication stated that teachers play a pivotal role in shaping character and values in students, especially in the formative years, by instilling values like honesty, discipline, empathy, and respect.
“Besides acting as a bridge between the knowledge and students, they play role of mentors to guide them through personal, emotional and career challenges. They also help to create doctors, engineers, lawyers, leaders and change makers.”
Given the contribution of teachers in achieving multifarious roles, the authorities stated that they are primarily focused on imparting education to the students.
“The mode and developments in the education sector are fast changing and this requires that the teachers keep pace with the modern technologies and updations,” it stated.
